Radium Hot Springs, British Columbia – The Village of Radium Hot Springs is moving forward with plans to rehabilitate and expand Ball Diamond Park thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job-creating investment from Canada’s Economic Action Plan.

“This investment, through our Economic Action Plan, is creating jobs while upgrading our recreational facilities to better serve our community for the long-term,” said the Honourable Jim Abbott, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Cooperation and Member of Parliament for Kootenay-Columbia on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification.

This investment will upgrade aging infrastructure at Ball Diamond Park. Project work includes repairing and reconstructing the ice rink and basketball court enclosure, upgrading and expanding the court concession and playground area. These improvements will support the residents of Radium Hot Springs by encouraging healthy lifestyles through increased recreational opportunities.

Funding of $21,000 is provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
"The Village of Radium Hot Springs is a small, lively community surrounded by beauty and wildlife. We encourage all locals and visitors to walk, hike and participate in all forms of outdoor activities. We appreciate the assistance with this infrastructure upgrade as it will help with our vision of a truly healthy and vibrant community."

The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program will invest $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period. It will provide a temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts of the global recession while renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities.
